Licenses on Curacao are delayed
Already two years ago it was decided to adjust the gambling license in Curacao. The independent island state of the Netherlands is to adapt to European laws. Similar conditions to those of the MGA Malta license serve as a basis. The Dutch government is calling for more monitoring and control of licenses. The fact that a draft for the new law should be available at the beginning of the year has been postponed for the time being. Those responsible assume that a decision will be made in the second third of the year and that the providers concerned can adapt to it.
New gambling laws in Curacao bring security
Even if the new gambling law comes into force, it is already clear that there will be a far more reformed license. On the one hand, this serves the legislators, but above all the players who are in Curaçao online casinos stop. With this, the Dutch country wants to ensure that black sheep will be cleaned out in the future through strong monitoring. Player protection, which plays a significant role in the Netherlands, should also come to the fore.
What is still uncertain is whether the online casinos will continue to have a master license or whether each individual provider will receive their own license. Ultimately, this will also be an issue in the template. Even now in January meet the Curaçao Minister of Finance and Dutch Minister of Legal Protection for talks to fix the new gambling bill. The Treasury will then be responsible for implementation and approval.
Curacao license soon as strong as MGA license
A good three years ago, those responsible agreed that the license in Curacao must be more powerful. Therefore, the alignment with the Malta license is only one of the points that are important to the legislators. It could well be that the licenses gain more importance than players are used to from the MGA. That would of course be a big step in the right direction to make gaming even more attractive. Because already today, a good 90% of online casinos with a Curacao license are reputable and secure. If proper regulation is added to this, the MGA could lose quite a bit of ground.
